You know, I’ve finally learned to use the flat iron that came with a blow dryer that I got almost three years ago at Costco in Seoul. Yeah, it only took that long. Just another story of my technologically/mechanically challenged life. I didn’t realize what awesome results it can actually bring about, even with my severely damaged triple-bleached hair. You’ve just got yourself a new loyal customer here, Mr. Flat Iron.
Designer Imseonoc has her unique way of making even pajama-inspired pieces look remarkably stylish. I mean, just look at the way these dropped-crotch pants fit. How about the shirt? While it’s clear that they are more utility-focused, it’s undeniable that they are the most fashion forward garments you may come across these days. And we all know she only uses one type of fabric which is high-quality neoprene and that her philosophy is to minimize waste, hence making her brand more desirable. If one is able to achieve such success without having to tap into the world of luxurious materials or even any other besides her usual neoprene, it certainly gives hope to those who seek to build their own brand using limited resources.
Because sometimes you are tired of wearing the same outfit all day.

The show began with a dance performance which would have been more effective if it had lasted five minutes instead of ten but it was powerful enough to capture audience’s attention and deliver a message.
Imseonoc, who is known for her expertise in neoprene, presented a collection full of surprises featuring experimental silhouettes and designs along with fun accessories. This was a presentation that was more than fashion, it was an art exhibition, and a successful one at that- the fact that she is able to come up with this much variety using only one type of fabric and still have so much fun doing so is a testament to her true talent and mastery in her craft.
Metallics take a shinier, polished turn this fall.
And you thought neoprene was only for the daring.
Did someone say gray is the new black?
There are different shades of gray, I understand, but this particular one is so pretty it makes me want to turn all of my black clothing into gray. I also like that the word comes in two spelling variants. heh.
Yeah, the sleeves… is Imseonoc the Rei Kawakubo of Korea?
How pretty is this metallic combo?
Oh, the infinite possibilities of neoprene.
Bags are another one of her specialty and she does it well– very well. Museum-quality, I shall call it- yes, I know- because I’ve experienced plenty firsthand.
Art on my back- I wouldn’t mind that at all.
I hear this print has a special reflective material to create an illusion of lightening in the dark. Intrigued yet?
The queen of neoprene… reigns.
Can’t wait to start seeing her collection at high end shops overseas. She’s already selling in Paris but they need to be brought over to design shops, pronto!

What is fashion? Or better yet, what should it be?
Shouldn’t it be something that is both functional yet aesthetically pleasing? From what I understand, clothes were initially made to cover our body, hence its functional purpose is more important than the aesthetics that which we place so much importance on these days.
So, if fashion is to satisfy both functional and aesthetic needs, it’s safe to say that what we wear should be both comfortable and beautiful. Partsparts by Imseonoc is just that, plus more- her pieces are not only a perfect combination of art, design, and functionality but meaningful and environmentally friendly as she is known for her expertise in fabric research and development along with her superior eye and skills in design. As you may have seen in her past collection, minimizing waste is one of her top priorities, hence it’s only natural to see a full collection made out of one fabric, that is spandex jersey.
Now, I really didn’t believe that it would be possible to make every type of clothing using just one fabric, not to mention making them look beautiful.
But with Imseonoc, the sky is the limit, you will understand what I mean when you visit her showroom in Buamdong (or an easier option would be to just continue scrolling down).
She never stops to surprise us with her ability to marry art and fashion, they may look like plain pieces but those whose eyes have been imbued in fashion and arts know that such design and print works do not come easy but only from years of excruciating training and hard work, and passion for dressing people in comfortable yet stylish clothes while remembering to do good to the environment. Now, that’s a lot of responsibilities, hew.
One good information to have when seeing her collection for the first times is that the fabrics that are used in the collections are created on her own, many of which are patent-protected. In that sense, Imseonoc isn’t just another fashion designer, but a scientist, teacher, and environmentalist who takes fashion’s influence in the world seriously.
Partsparts’ Spring Summer 2014 collection is all about muted hues accented with brights and metallics. Notable were the eye makeup created with foils, mesopotamian style jewelry that looked like they belonged in a museum, and metallic shoes that added spice and a kick.
I don’t know what it is but these jackets/dresses reminiscent of nurse’s gowns were a favorite piece of the collection- I just can’t get over how cool they are, the wit and creativity and all. It also doesn’t hurt that they look mighty comfortable. yeah.
By adding a special coating onto the jersey fabric, both a print and a new fabric is created, giving it a leather-like look.
Haena Song killed it in her black ensemble and Jeffrey Campbell ‘Machine’ heels.
Again, who would have thought that an entire skirt suit ensemble could be made with one single fabric? and to make it look this good? Nobody but Imseonoc, for sure.
Let me tell you, this maxi skirt is to die for. The way the fabric moves and feels on body is completely mind-blowing.
Simple is more, more, and most. best.
The whole package: comfort, functionality, eco-friendly, all the while being ultra sexy.
