New Jersey- Rediscovered

Dear NJ, My apologies for not realizing your beauty six years ago- More Victorian Houses <333 Colorful houses in some of my favorite colors- Turquoise, Sky Blue, and Pink! Manhattan from New Jersey on a Foggy Day I actually lived and worked in NJ for a while, but was too nearsighted to realize the beauty of life then. Glad that I got to see it from a different perspective, though six years too late. — Ate at some random Mediterranean restaurant in West New York for lunch, which turned out to be surprisingly good. It looked Indian from outside but the menu said otherwise. Had a Greek Salad which included a good portion of tomatoes, cucumber, olives, etc- now that I think about it, it tasted more like Salsa than an avg Greek Salad- perhaps that’s how New Yorkers do it? :P Anyhow, it was wonderful nonetheless. Heard the Shish Kabobs were...

Manhattan- Traffic Fun

Lesson 100: Never Drive in the City Spent quality time with my beloved Manhattan for a good 5 hours   Noticed what large Wifi options I had passing by 55th & Park Central Park is even more beautiful on a rainy day.   Hello Kitty in the City (Not an official title- I like that they rhyme. :P) by Tom Sachs   Chinese-To-Go for dinner. It may look a little bizarre, but it’s quite delicious: Shrimp Egg Foo Young & Won Ton Soup I like how everything can be delivered at any time of the day within 20 minutes in NYC- AND they arrive hot! The delivery men must go through some rigorous training.

Local Vacation

Vacation doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to go away. It’s really in the eye of the beholder, you see? Here’s a collage of my 2009 Thanksgiving weekend as an example: Entertained by Botero’s exaggerated, colorful figures @ Bowers Museum Helped roast 1,000 turkeys until 1 in the morning (3 am for the hubby and his friends; Thanks again for your help- You know who you are!) for a Thanksgiving Outreach Program (yay! our turkeys are on the news!) A bike ride in the hood (it’s so nice to live in a place surrounded by nature; did I tell you that we saw a coyote during our usual evening walk a few weeks ago? and it was like half a mile from where we live? crazy, I know. Then again, I see rabbits all the time in the parking lot at work.) Had some great authentic Japanese food at...

Seafood Galore

After a Magic Straight Perm, a hair cut, a bag of Chrysanthemum Bread, and a tour of Beverly Hills, we decided to head back to Korea Town for some good seafood: one happy family :) Appetizers which include a salad, spicy rice cake with seafood cooked on a table grill, dynamite, Korean pancake, sweet potato tempura, porridge, mussel stew, stir fried udon, etc. After you finish the clams, scallops, mussels, oysters, grilled shrimps, octopus, and squid, the waiter cooks rice in one of the shells with spicy sauce and seaweed… heavenly. Seafood galore for $39.99 We ate until we couldn’t breathe anymore, then took some home for lunch the next day. I had always wanted try a clam place (it’s very popular in Korea), yet didn’t think I would be able to see one in the states anytime soon. So glad I discovered this place. I would choose clams...
