Viva Las Vegas!

Viva Las Vegas!

I know, I know… I’m behind schedule. I was finally able to drag my lazy butt (and broken foot) to the computer to write this overdue post on my Vegas trip. Sorry! I’m actually having some issues with my broken foot for which the doctor has ordered bed rest for a month. It’s hard for me to stay seated because the foot gets swollen so let’s see if I can keep this short and quick. :) Brunch at Wynn Buffet. While the selections may seem limited compared to others, quality is definitely superior. They’ve got everything from Gorgonzola Pear Salad (my fav) to Quiche. It was interesting because by the time we were finished with our first plate, lunch hour was approaching and a completely new menu started to show up. My tip would be to get there around 10:30AM so that you have access to both breakfast AND...

Beauty Hurts

Sorry about being MIA, but I do have a few good reasons for it. First of all, for those who don’t follow me on Twitter (Follow me now for daily updates- “Tomimito”)… I broke my foot wearing these gorgeous shooties a week ago. I know, how the heck do you break your foot “walking”? yeah, that’s the part that still boggles my mind but it happened, and let me just tell you that I’m paying for it. Here’s the x-ray (it’s the fourth bone where the little line is). Secondly, I was on vacation over the weekend in “Sin City”. I know what ya’ll are saying, “What? With a broken foot? Crazy. you Crazy Girl!” Well, the truth is that I thoroughly enjoyed our trip and got to do everything that had been planned except for dancing at the best clubs the city has to offer, which was replaced...

Manager from Hell

Manager from Hell

Everyone’s definition is different, but here is a set of characteristics that I’ve collected over the years on the species (which actually happens to be not as RARE as they should be): 1. They don’t give a crap about your personal well-being; better yet, all they care about is their own well-being and success. 2. They don’t support your professional development. Heck, they would do anything to stop you from becoming anything more than what you are now. 3. They want you to work long hours just as they do while they get paid 3 times more than you- well, it only makes sense that we all put in the same number of hours since we all work for the same company making salaries that differ only by $100K, right? 4. They expect you to be finished NOW when the project was just given to you five minutes ago....

“I DON’T GET PAID ENOUGH.”

“I DON’T GET PAID ENOUGH.”

Ok, we all say this either out loud or in head at least once during our stay at the jungle. But what do you do when a coworker says this OUT LOUD in the office? It’s so loud that EVERYONE in the office can hear it. Seriously, what the heck? And no, it doesn’t end there. “Have you ever been to SALARY.COM and compared your salary with what’s listed there? We get paid way less than the average!” umm.. ok…?! Yes, thanks for the valuable info but I’d rather not know it, obviously because it doesn’t do me any good..?! Often, people have no clue what effect things like this have on others. We all need to learn to be a bit more courteous when it comes to office environment. It’s one thing to complain to your colleague in the break room, or to have a talk with your...

Healthy Alternative

Since when were the vegetables more expensive and fancier than the meat? It always boggles my mind to see these veggie cuisines priced higher than those made with meat. See, in my motherland Korea, meat is still uber expensive and when I lived there (which was roughly 20 yrs ago) it would cost us an arm and a leg to get Korean BBQ (think couple hundred bucks to feed a family of 4; consider two of us being tiny little girls). Bam, I arrive in the states and meat is literally everywhere! I don’t even know how often I got to eat it… like EVERYDAY(?!), which I think did me good at least appearance wise, because it helped me grow a few inches and some chest too. lol vs. So I got to have my very first Veggie Burger experience last night and I must say that I was...

Autumn: a Time of Maturity

Autumn: a Time of Maturity

According to a colleague, today is the official start of summer and supposedly the longest day of the year. I think he was right, because it was still bright out when I left the gym at 8PM. Well, it may be a bit early but that means Fall is here in the fashion world. Take a look at some of the intriguing pieces from the 2010 Fall Collections: Michael Kors Diggin’ the mannish look- the leg warmer and gladiator sandal combo is a great complement. I also like how the skirt almost looks like shorts. Not so sure about the beanie, however- makes her look bald, no? :P Carolina Herrera From the fur around the neck, layered patterned scarves underneath, ruffles peeking through the cape (or jacket, is it?), dark brown statement gloves, to neutral-hued plaid wide pants, this is the epitome of pure luxury! Ralph Lauren Sequins, Chiffon,...

For My Sweet-toothed Friends

For My Sweet-toothed Friends

Since my cheat day is almost here (Saturday), I wanted to celebrate it by introducing a few of what I call “my favorite indulgences”: Jesuit (Custard filled French puff pastry with meringue & almonds) from Champagne Bakery So buttery and crunchy, just like the ones in Paris! Bear Cake (chocolate cake w/ white chocolate mousse & Italian rum & milk chocolate chunks) from Susina Bakery I ate the whole thing myself. No, I’m not kidding. …and my newest favorite- Red Velvet Cake from Layer Cake- so moist and delicious, definitely better than Sprinkles’. Thanks to J for sharing the love! This place is a gem!

Fully Armored

I’m sure many of you agree that one of the top beauty products for summer is sunscreen. I wish someone had told me about this when I was younger, because it was only a few years ago that I learned about its importance. Even when I was in college, I’d walk around the city (Manhattan) with a bare naked face, hence the freckl-ish dark spots on my cheeks- bummer. Well, I’m glad I picked up the habit before it was too late… better late than never, right? :) Anyhow, so ever since I started wearing sunscreen under makeup, I had been on a search of a perfect sunscreen for face.. because there aren’t that many good ones, to be honest. One of the reasons why I had a hard time was probably because I didn’t want to spend a fortune on something that I use up so quickly, yet...

Guilty Pleasure

It could not get any more materialistic, hence the title- but I just can’t help it! Finally got around to see this with my girl for free, of course (my company gives out free tix whenever we do theater advertising- I know, it’s pretty cool). anyhoo, despite negative reviews, I thought it was thoroughly entertaining, I especially could not get my eye off all those fantastically glamorous outfits. I absolutely loved all the mixing/matching of exotic materials, bright colors, styles, and prints. Sarah looked amazing with her beautifully toned body (which has motivated me to work out even harder!). Wish more photos were available but I guess you’ll just have to go see for yourself. If you love fashion, expensive cars, New York, and hot guys, this is one movie you don’t want to miss. Image Source: Google
